Advantage

The superiority of one side over the other, which can take various forms. A material advantage may consist of one side having more force; a positional advantage, of a better placement of pieces and pawns.

An advantage can also mean holding the initiative, an attack, a pawn superiority on a flank, better piece mobility, control of key squares, weaknesses in the opponent's camp, and so on.
