Queen

Abbreviated Q, drawn as ♛. It moves and captures along a file, a rank, or a diagonal to any square. In the starting position each side has one queen, standing on d1 (for Black, d8). The queen is the strongest piece. In value it is roughly equal to two rooks or three minor pieces.

The name "queen" is of Eastern origin (Arabic firzān, Persian farzīn).
